PRIVACY POLICY – HeartSense Cardiac Counselling

The website address is: https://heartsensecardiaccounselling.com/.  This site is maintained by Liz Sharpe – Therapist and Coach.  My work base is DLTC, 1-5 Leigh Hill.  (Please note that appointments are required).  This is the privacy policy for all sites and work through Liz Sharpe and HeartSense Cardiac Counselling.

Privacy Notice – Protecting your privancy is very important to Liz Sharpe – your confidentiality is paramount.  When browsing the website, you may do so anonymously without providing any information.  However, if you ask to join my email marketing list or book for a free consultation, you will be asked to provide your name and address, so that I can contact you.  Heartsense Cardiac Counselling and Liz Sharpe does not rent, sell or otherwise distribute your personal information.  All reasonable efforts will be taken to safeguard the confidentiality of your information, however Heartsense Cardiac Counselling and Liz Sharpe will have no liability for disclosure of any information obtained due to errors in transmission or the unauthorised acts of third parties.  

  • If you complete a contact form to ask for me to contact you – then I will receive your name, email address and phone number plus any additional comments you choose to make.  Please note that you can also call me directly rather than share this information.  
  • If you sign up for my newsletter, then your name and email is stored via Active Campaign which uses servers compliant with GDPR legislation.  You will have the option to unsubscribe at any time, and I do not retain any information.
  • If you sign up for a session using my online calendar, then any details that you provide are stored on with Calendly.  I do not ask for any personally sensitive information with this system.
  • My terms and conditions are sent to you via WriteUpp, which you will be asked to e-sign before the first session, plus provide contact information.  Your details are secure on their servers.   
  • If you text / whats app / email / phone me, then details will be on my mobile and/or computer, which has built in security features.  All reasonable efforts will be taken to ensure the security of your information.

Contact forms – Cookies

If you leave a comment on the site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Analytics

I use google analytics to understand how visitors engage with this site. It will tell me the pages that you visit and which part of the world you are logging in from.  I cannot identify specific visitors from this information.

General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

The General Data Protection Regulation (the “GDPR”) sets out the rules on processing of personal data.  This regulation has been used to formulate the essence and  approach of this privacy notice.

The purpose(s) of processing your personal data

I use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To ensure that I can provide you with the best possible treatment
  • To work in lines with my regulatory body and insurance company who require information to be stored for 5 years.
  • Where necessary, to contact relevant professionals such as medical teams.
  • To maintain your health and safety during our work together.
  • Newsletter or subscription – if you have provided me with your email for the purposes of receiving my blogs and newsletters.
  • If you kindly provide a review or testimonial on a public site, such as google, then it may be shared on social media and websites but efforts will be taken to anonymise your identity.  

 

The categories of personal data concerned

I will only obtain personal data as given by you and do not get information from any other source.  With reference to the categories of personal data described in the definitions section, the following categories of your data are processed:

  • Personal data [Name, address, phone number, email address or contact details, age, medical issues, reason for therapy, and in some cases, NHS or hospital number, employer, Next of Kin, school]

Sharing your personal data

Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential, and will be shared only with Medical Professionals or equivalent, if there is a risk to your health and safety or the health and safety of others.

How long will your personal data be kept?

I keep your personal data for no longer than reasonably necessary for a period of 5 years, from consenting age.

If you unsubscribe from online marketing tools, then I do not retain email data etc.

Providing us with your personal data

You are under no statutory or contractual requirement or obligation to provide your personal data. But failure to do so may mean that I cannot provide you with therapy support, or you cannot receive online marketing.

Your rights and your personal data

Unless subject to an exemption under the GDPR, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • The right to request a copy of the personal data which we hold about you;
  • The right to request that personal data is corrected if it is found to be inaccurate or out of date;
  • The right to request your personal data is erased where it is no longer necessary to retain such data

 

Further processing

If I wish to use your personal data for a new purpose, not covered by this Data Privacy Notice, then you will be provided with a new notice explaining this new use prior to commencing the processing and setting out the relevant purposes and processing conditions.

How to make a complaint
